When it comes to facial plastic surgery, patients across New York and New Jersey have a number of different options for enhancing their appearance and rejuvenating their skin and overall look. The two biggest factors that effect our facial appearance are age or time and the presence of facial fat. According to Dr. Swift, the best plastic surgeon NJ has in practice, facial fat is precious and something that is often lost with age and time. Similar to collagen and elastin, two vital skincare proteins that occur naturally within our skin, facial fat gives us our soft, supple facial appearance and contours, while ensuring our skin maintains its youthful elasticity and ability to snap back from being stretched. One of the areas of the face where fat can accumulate the most is the buccal region or mid cheek area. This is known as the buccal fat pad, and is generally a product of genetics and some individuals may have larger or more prominent buccal fat pads than others. Like other facial fat, buccal fat is highly resistant to diet and exercise and its presence can make the lower region of a patient’s face look wider and less contoured. The presence of excess, unwanted buccal fat is one of the most common issues that patients suffer from and this is the reason why buccal fat removal surgery has become much more popular these days. According to Dr. Swift, using buccal fat removal surgery NJ patients can create more well defined cheeks and a much more well contoured and prominent jawline. In this article, we will be going over some important things New Jersey patients need to know about buccal fat and buccal fat removal surgery.
